Celia's Roadside-Skipper?? - Celotes nessus

Celia's Roadside-Skipper?? - Celotes nessus
Williamson County, Texas, USA
June 14, 2006
This small skipper gave me only a quick glimpse of the upper wing (which seemed to have more white spots on it than the underwings) before folding up and sitting on this flowerhead. This was right about noon, up on the gravelly knoll, where I was refilling the wildlife guzzler. When I tried to move around to its sunnier side, it flew away and disappeared. The only thing in my books which looks remotely like it is Celia's Roadside-Skipper, but that species isn't listed in my regional guide as being here (though in the range map in _Butterflies Through Binoculars: The West_, it should be here.) It was darker (though not quite as dark as this shadowed side suggests) than the image here at BugGuide. I'm posting another image in a moment which is more side-on.
