Amara apricaria
is confirmed based on my microscopic examination of this specimen which is now a photo-voucher in the P.W.Messer collection. Good image recognition by Vassili. Thanks Tom.

Another beach beetle
This one was up near the tip of some beach grass. I'll be sending specimens to Peter pretty soon, so we'll find out what this is.
