little help on this spider - Tibellus

little help on this spider - Tibellus

This is one of the Running Crab Spiders
in the Philodromidae, genus Tibellus. "Spiders of the North Woods" lists a T. oblongus and emphasizes those two spots near the end of the abdomen. (The North Woods books are a great series that we would recommend!) "Checklist of the Kansas Crab Spiders" shows a couple of images but doesn't indicate how to tell the species apart. Images in the guide here

Are These Running Crab Spiders Aggressive?
I keep finding these spiders in my house, and they seem pretty jumpy. Are they aggressive? Could I pick one up to relocate it outside?

the easiest way to move spiders
is to cover them with a glass, then slip an index card under them and take the glass and card outside. Though we wouldn't expect any problem from picking it up, why bother?
