Golden Dung Flies Mating, Scatophaga stercoraria - Scathophaga stercoraria - Male Female
Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
April 27, 2004
Remarkably pretty insects; it's a wonder they can keep their golden hairs so clean while living on cow manure. Scatophaga stercoraria.

I've just posted a similar photo of these.
Has anyone observed these through the summer? Do they seem to be mating all the time? Are they found outside of this area (West Virginia)?
