Ammophila? - Ammophila

Ammophila? - Ammophila
Raleigh (Falls Lake), Wake County, North Carolina, USA
June 16, 2006
Size: around 2 inches
I'm pretty sure this is Ammophila nigricans from images I have seen up here. However, I've seen some similar insects ID'd under a different genus. Any help would be appreciated.

So it's maybe not A. nigricans. How about Ammophila pictipennis?

Ammophila.
Genus is certainly correct. At that size, it is probably something in the A. procera group. In my experience (which does not include Florida!), A. nigricans is much darker, with violaceous wings.
