gall on oak leaf

gall on oak leaf
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
September 22, 2011
Another cynipid gall -- this time located on the upper side of an oak leaf. Note from ID of leaves -- Or this could be a Bur Oak (Q. macrocarpa); the two species can look a lot alike. This oak was located on a hill if that helps with the ID.
