Confused
Charley,
I tagged and moved all these from Chrysomelidae - Leaf Beetles. Why some shown being moved from Unidentified Leaf Mines (this page) and some being moved from Leaf Beetles?

Sorry 'bout that
Apparently, some of these 7 images were posted elsewhere but were still linked with those posted on leaf beetles. Sorry about my assumption. In the future, I'll check each one.

A few images...
had been tentatively placed in Chrysomelidae based on Terry Harrison's suggestion that it might be a beetle mine, without his having seen a photo of the larva. There is no chrysomelid known to feed on this plant, and I don't think this larva can be said to be definitely a beetle larva, nor do I remember ever coming across any mention of leaf-mining beetle larvae expelling frass from their mines (whereas some moths and at least one sawfly do this), so 'unidentified leaf mines' seems to be the best placement for now. See the discussion on the first image for more details.

Update?
Did it spin a cocoon?

Not that I can tell. It look
Not that I can tell. It looks more dead than alive. Might have to look for this next year. I'll keep it, however, and see if anything happens.

Yes, if it hasn't spun a cocoon yet,
it probably didn't make it. Maybe you could write to Terry and see if he'd be willing to examine it--he should be able to tell us more than we've been able to figure out from photos, anyway.
Thanks for trying. I'll definitely be on the lookout for these next year.
