In the above photo, a European Hornet has a chunk of paper wasp egg material in its mandibles. Part of the (just bitten) paper wasp egg is in the upper right brood cell.
There is a 9-shot set (click this) on Flickr of this European Hornet attacking a paper wasp species parent and then raiding the paper wasp nest.
