Eastern amberwing - Perithemis tenera - male

Eastern amberwing - Perithemis tenera - Male
Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia, USA
June 16, 2006
This species is quite small, much smaller than the skimmers (note how short the abdomen is relative to the very broad wings). This makes the shape of this species quite different from almost all other dragonflies. Also note that the entire wing is orange, except for the reddish markings on the leading edges.
