In scientific papers, the palp that is used for identification is the left one. So here, we are only getting to see the side view of that palp, which does help for certain characters... but for the others, we either have to try to mentally reverse the image of the right palp, or physically copy it and reverse it somehow... so it will help in the future to use the left palp as the focus and get a full ventral (side views help, as well). Tough to get some to lay flat for you, so you might need to cut the palp off in many cases.

I should add that by "left palp," it is from the perspective of looking down on the top side of the spider. When we see the ventral side like this, we're seeing his left palp on the right.
