Tabanus lineola - female

Tabanus lineola - Female
Beverly Hills, Citrus County, Florida, USA
June 17, 2006
Size: At least 3/4 inch long
Seen on the wall outside our local supermarket around 5:45 PM.

T. similis
does not get further south in the east than NC. Also similis has a red tip to the scutellum. This is a female Tabanus lineola.

Thanks!
I had checked the lineola page, but the differences between female and male (and the mostly male samples there) had sent me back to similis. Thanks for steering me in the right direction!

I'll move your image
to the sp. page
