Fly - Gonia

Fly - Gonia
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
June 15, 2006
Only got a quick look at this beauty. Reminds me of Epalpus?

Moved
Moved from Peleteria.

Moved
Moved from Oestroidea.

Gonia?
I know next to nothing about Tachnids but the head on this fellow matches a lot of the examples of Gonia in the guide.

Interesting
observation, Steve. I agree, although like you, I know next to nothing . . .

Could it be Tachinidae?
I am not sure but at least let us move it to superfamily Oestroidea and hope that a specialist sees it here.
