I agree that Familiar Bluet may very well be the species. In this case it would be very helpful to also have a view looking straight down on the damsel from above.

A wonderful new book, Damselflies of the Northeast, by Ed Lam, has both profile and bird's eye view illustrations for each species, for each gender. The bird's eye view helps distinguish differences in the eyespots, the middorsal stripe, etc.
