Always thought this was stag beetle but now I don't think so. What is it?

Ox Beetle..
Dave,
Looks like you have an Ox beetle, Strategus aloeus, and a male at that. Here is the gallery:

Reminds me of
a Strategus of some sort. Like:

But that's just a guess since I've only seen 'em in books and here.

I found one of those being eaten by ants, but I rescued it and it still seems to be alive. Do you know what it eats?
