Mating Laphria - Laphria divisor - male - female

Mating Laphria - Laphria divisor - Male Female
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA
June 12, 2006
Size: ~20mm
Herschel had described another Laphria with the same color pattern as L.divisor or possibly L.posticata. We checked out the L.divisor in the guide and those images have yellow hairs on the top of the head behind the eyes. Our flies have black hairs on the top of the head. Might that be indicative of posticata?

Nice shot
L posticata should have black hairs on the scutellum (the small protrusion behind the main thoracic plate). I can't make that out here. Looks mostly yellow. These do look a bit different from the divisor I am used to.
