Hummingbird Moth - Hemaris
Kennebunk, York County, Maine, USA
June 20, 2006
Size: 3.5cm long
Apologies for poor image...just 1 quick shot. On Lupine flower.I must have looked at 10^6 images in BG; ID by J&J BalabanHemaris Clearwing moth, aka Hummingbird Moth..when I first spotted it, I thought it was a hummingbird

Moved
Moved from Sphinx Moths.

Looks like we can see that Lupine blue
right through the front wing, so we're guessing it is one of the Hemaris Clearwing Hummingbird Moths.
