Possibly American carrion beetle
I came across one of these about a week ago, along with an adult American carrion beetle. The larva looked just like what you have here.

I was wondering...
...about the possibility of it being some sort of carrion beetle, or at least a species that associated with carrion beetles. The odour was very reminiscent of adult carrion beetles I had collected in my younger days!
