Finally! On Oct. 28 the caterpillar started getting very active and had not eaten very much so I was hoping that it was going to soon pupate. On October 29 the caterpillar had purged itself. I placed it in another container with several inches of peat moss and the caterpillar then proceeded to bury itself in the peat. When I last checked it was on the bottom of the container under all the peat moss.
