I collected this ant (worker) from its nest on Embudito Trl. (No. 192) at about 7000 ft elevation in the Sandia Mountains, Bernalillo Co., NM. Its identification is based on the keys to species of Olsen 1934(1) and Creighton 1950(2). It also matches Antweb images(3) very well. All the key features are represented in the linked set of images.

This view above is a CombineZP processed stack of 162 images with a 51 micron step taken with a reversed Leitz Focotar-2 enlarging lens set to F5.6 + bellows + Nikon D300.
