Black Spider - Allocosa - male

Black Spider - Allocosa - Male
Illinois, USA

I'm not even sure where this goes. Maybe an ant mimic? Doesn't seem to fit jumpers, orb weavers, or any of the few others I always find. Any suggestions would be much appricated.

Moved
Moved from Wolf Spiders.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the move
Hey Jeff, thanks for the move. It seems we have most of these finally in one place. I think there might be one more out there in the req. pages..

How did you find the species out? I know we've been wondering about these guys for a while now...

It
fits the description of A. funerea, but there are 18 species, and I'm not sure how many species are in your area.

As far as finding the species out, I finally put a little effort into it...

Wolf Spider.
Relatively confident this is one of the more diminutive wolf spiders, and a male.
