UV light in Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda) forest.

Range and habitat?
Saw many of these at UV light that week in a sandy Loblolly Pine forest. Never saw the beetle since then despite lots of collecting nearby in Maryland. Based on the location, had assumed this was a Southeast coastal plain species that just sporadically occurred in the Delmarva Peninsula? Was very surprised to see Tom Murray's beetle from Massachusetts. Just goes to show how little we know about the range and habitat of most beetles!

great stuff, as always --thanks again, Frank!
