Unknown insect - Pselliopus barberi

Unknown insect - Pselliopus barberi
Gambrills, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
November 3, 2011
Size: 1/2-3/4" long
My daughter found several of these on our maple tree in the front yard. It was a sunny afternoon in the fall (early Nov). We've never seen them before and wondered if anyone could id them for us. Thanks.

Moved
Moved from Pselliopus.

Moved for expert attention
Moved from ID Request.

Most of the more orange individuals in the Guide seem to be P. barberi--but there's enough overlap with P. cinctus that I'm content to leave it at the genus level pending expert review.

An Assassin Bug
This is an Assassin Bug. Something in Pselliopus but I can't tell which species. Please wait for one of our experts to comment.

Here is an example of Pselliopus cinctus but yours may be a different species in this genus.
