Size: 1 cm
Its feeding on swamp cyrilla along the banks of the Satilla River.

Male Scoliid Wasp.
This is a male scoliid wasp, perhaps a Campsomeris species.

 
Female (likely)
I recently collected 5 specimens from a group on Fullerton College's campus in Fullerton CA. I obtained one that looked dramatically similar to this one, which was a female. The short antennae and ruby hair on the thorax indicate this. The males have much longer antennae and lack a colorful hair pattern. That is likely a picture of a female.
