On gooseberry (Ribes). Has dark stockings to "knees."

Dung Fly?
Believe it or not, I think this might be a dung fly, family Scatophagidae (or Scathophagidae). Not all of the species look like Scathophaga:-) Very nice images, and a dipterist should be able to place it easily.

I cruised the BugGuide dung flies and it seems to me you got the family. BugGuide uses the "Scathophagidae" spelling.
