Pulex irritans

Pulex irritans
Ft. Gordon, Richmond County, Georgia, USA
Flea recovered under the bandage of a patient who sought medical attention. When the bandages were removed, several fleas 'fled' the area; this one remained as it was stuck in the bandage's adhesive (hence the condition).

In the second image, note the lack of pronotal and genal combs, smooth (not divided) mesopleuron, and the ocular bristle is below the eye.
