rhinoceros beetle? - Strategus antaeus

rhinoceros beetle? - Strategus antaeus
Pinellas County, Florida, USA
September 16, 2011
I thought this was a rhinoceros beetle but I looked at the images on BugGuide and didn't see ones with the thorax black and the wings reddish-brown. Are there different species of rhinoceros beetles?

Hi
I live in St. Pete too and tons of their grubs in my yard (which I love) here is one I took pictures of.
Mine is very possibly (probably?) a different species. I wonder if yours' is Strategus splendens?

Probably an ox beetle like this one
Strategus aloeus, and yes, there are many kinds of "rhinocerous beetles".
