Spider and Egg Sac - Metazygia zilloides

Spider and Egg Sac - Metazygia zilloides
Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA
December 4, 2011
I am not expecting the exact species, just any info since the flash kind of ruined what the spider looks like. To help I took a picture of one of its egg sacs too.

Moved from Metazygia. ID based on range, line on carapace & what we can see of the abdomen markings.

Spider ID
Araneidae, probably.

Genus Metazygia
Maybe? If so maybe that's what created your other egg sacs... I haven't seen any of the Metazygia egg sacs that I remember, so they might look like the six-spotted orb-weaver egg sacs that I mentioned earlier.

Not same spider
This sac has nothing to do with the other ID request, this one is in Gainesville and the other request is 6 hours south from here.

It may be Metazygia though

Yes thanks
I realize that. I was just looking at the similarity of the egg sac to the other one you posted. Since there doesn't seem to be any six-spotted orb-weavers in FL, we are going to have to consider other options.
