This lady was hiding under her sparse web.
Is this a Funnel-web Spider (Agelenidae) ?
And if so, could it belong in genus Calilena ?

BugGuide is a great educational tool. I have certainly learned a lot. =] See R.J.'s comment below...

I agree that it is difficult to make an ID from these pictures, but B. longinqua is one of the most common household spiders along the immediate central California coast. The webbing does look cribellate which is a point in B. longinqua's favor. Even if you don't see the spider, they make very distinctive "ladder and lattice" type webs, a decent shot of which can be found at:
