I'm curious about the whitish object in the front half of this mite's body. It reminds me a bit of the things in this ant that I believe to be liver flukes, but I presume this is something totally unrelated.

The way that the white thing
The way that the white thing distorts when the mite shifts angle seems potentially suspicious-- could it be some sort of reflection?

 
I don't know...
It seems very matte, in contrast to those white reflections from the flash.
