Strange bug - Meloe impressus - Female

I have never seen anything like this before. I thought it looked like an ant, but after looking through the guide, I thought maybe a blister beetle. Can anyone tell me for sure?

Meloid
It's a Meloid beetle -- probably an "oil beetle" of the genus Meloe.
