Based on the elytral apices, this is N. cavipennis, although the color suggests N. barbarae.

Hi Ian
Is it just the lighting or does this female specimen seem to be lacking the deep longitudinal sulcus on the pronotum that should be expected in N. cavipennis? Could this be N. diversicollis californica Linsley? The color is "usually" black, but reddish is within the range of color.

thanks Ian...
i wonder how to handle this ))
well, i have little respect for color, after all.
