Size: 1.25"
Found this large beetle as it flew around our patio last night. It was around 1.25" or so. Any ideas as to what it is? I can tell you that it had incredibly strong jaws though! It latched onto the container I tried to keep it in and didnt let go for about a minute.

I've had 2 males show up at my UV lights.
That was last night and night before. Maybe tonight a female will come and I can observe and photograph a WWF bout between males.

Emergence date
Aren't they late this year? I've been surprised at the lack of enquiries this year. Unusual weather?
Anyway, I hope that your guys were sufficiently attractive for a female to turn up, it is usually the other way round though...

No, earlier than last year.
I didn't have them start showing up till late in July last summer.
