americanus?
X. musculus range description in(1) appears to imply that the beast doesn't occur northwest of the SE corner of Nebraska; on the other hand, ND is definitely within the known range of X. americanus(2) (which used to be treated as a syn of musculus, though)

Excellent
catch v....of course all of my specimens were ID'd using other area collections, and all were to musculus. All of mine have the tuberculate pronotum, lumping them into americanus. I have added Paulsen's paper to my library, will make appropriate changes to the state scarab list and will examine all specimens when visiting the state collection.
