This is only one of about 32 of these we had around our yard/garden this last summer/fall and possibly the largest of the yard.

Black and Yellow Argiope (Argiope aurantia). Great shot. I rotated it to show how the spider hangs in its web in nature.

Great, thanks! They're awesomely cool! I remember them way down in Jacksonville, FL. hanging 20 or more feet up in the long leaf pines in my grandfather's yard.

 
I agree, very cool spiders
It's one of the first species I ever photographed. They are just beautiful with that pattern & color.
