Spider, medium large, FANGS - Aptostichus stanfordianus -

Size: 15 mm

We were fixing a tractor trail in the woods when I spotted this largish spider running around on the soil. I carefully picked it up, and took it inside and put it in a jar, and photographed it over the next few days. It didn't want to stop hiding so I took the camera with me when I released it and finally got some full body shots. Shy would be an understatement. It sat there till I was bored taking photos, and then I picked it up and put it up in the old ferns and blackberries where it moved with amazing speed and vanished in some hiding place among the leaf litter.
I probably can extract a few claw photos from when it was in the jar.
I've whittle photos down to this number, if anything isn't needed for the guide please frass it.
SIX EYES????? Female?

I think ctenizid, possibly Bo

I think ctenizid, possibly Bothriocyrtum based on range and similar images in BG. Sorry Camillus, it's a female- the pedipalps are undeveloped. Ian

Interesting, we don't see a procurved thoracic furrow.

Seems to us to look much like the images under Aptostichus in the guide

,
but we just don't know much about Mygalomorphs. Guess we'll have to wait to see what Marshal says.

I'm going to take a guess at Cyrtaucheniidae, in part because of the scopulae and transverse thoracic furrow (SoNA).
