This picture was taken on a backpack. The body is ~ 2 in. long, and the antennae are roughly 6 in. across. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Totally Awesome.
This is a rather rarely photographed insect called a "humpwinged grig," or "sagebrush cricket" in the genus Cyphoderris. I believe we have some other images in the guide. Nice find! These insects are generally restricted to the Cascade Mountains and Northern Rockies.

The location sounds right on. We were in a remote part of the N. Cascades in some high alpine lakes when we saw several of these. Thanks for the ID!
