Size: 3/4-inch
While I was inspecting a 28" dbh Norway Maple that had been injured due to construction, I observed this critter crawling up the northern side of the tree. It was approximately 5pm on a warm sunny afternoon. This was the best shot I could get of it as it crawled along pretty quickly.

Redheaded Ash Borer
This is a longhorned beetle (family Cerambycidae) known as the redheaded ash borer (Neoclytus acuminatus). They can be very abundant on freshly cut hardwoods. They are wasp mimics that tend to give one pause:-)
