Narrow-waisted Bark Beetle - Rhinosimus viridiaeneus

Narrow-waisted Bark Beetle - Rhinosimus viridiaeneus
Clark's Creek Park, Puyallup, Pierce County, Washington, USA
March 8, 2012
Size: ~ 4 mm
Found on my windshield.

Moved tentatively
Moved from Rhinosimus.

It's definitely Rhinosimus
all 3 Nearctic spp. are known from BC (and presumably WA). They are actually not too uncommon if you know where/when to look for them.

doesn't look like viridiaeneus to me
on the other hand, the name pallipes sounds promising

Thanks everyone
Should I release it or keep it?

keep, by all means.

Cute! Looks like the
Rhinosimus in the guide, and there's one from BC
