Cherry Webspinning Sawfly - Neurotoma edwardi

Cherry Webspinning Sawfly - Neurotoma edwardi
Essex, Ontario, Canada
July 7, 2006
Size: 20 mm long
Inside the tent some heads (at the top) have a red fluid - regurgitating as a defense mechanism, except the one with a green head. Very odd. I will keep it for observation. Below the green head is a lump of frass. All frass stays in the nest with the caterpillars.
