I originally thought this was a black widow, but the egg sac definitely looks like a brown widow. Can brown widows be this dark and shiny black? Any help would be appreciated.

lynette is right! this is a very dark brown widow. i've had some that came from florida that were even darker than this. jet black. the spots near the spinneretes are an indication. and the sac at the top of the picture helps too :)
