Emma's Dancer - Argia emma - male

Emma's Dancer - Argia emma - Male
John Day River, Wheeler County, Oregon, USA
June 27, 2006
There were many of these landing on our boat as we rafted down the river. The color change from violet through pink to blue was so pretty. Is this a "variable dancer?" I don't see any images like mine on the species page, but I understand they really are variable. The female was a beige color. Thanks for any help.

Yes, that color can only be
the violet dancer or variable dancer - Argia fumipennis, male. Nice!

Thanks
There is no data for this species west of Ohio, so I'll move this to the guide.

Oh! You tricked us good -
We didn't even notice that you weren't in Texas. Sneaking out to raft the John Day! Ok, now our brains are in the right place. This should be Argia emma, Emma's dancer. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for jostling us awake!

Yes, we vacationed
in Oregon, and of course wanted to photo and ID everything we saw there. Thanks, I'll change this to Emma's.
