American Wood Cockroach - Parcoblatta americana

American Wood Cockroach - Parcoblatta americana
Sierra City, Sierra County, California, USA
June 26, 2006
Found under a rock in the woods.

Moved
Moved from Cockroaches and Termites.

ID determined based on range, shape of 10th tergum (in B. orientalis, the tip of the tergite often diverges into two), and shape/proportion of the vestigial tegmina (in B. orientalis, it almost touches the first abdominal segment, and is more close to oval shape as oppose to triangular shape in americana).

Parcoblatta americana
adult female :)

Moved
Moved from Cockroaches.

Size?
Either a female Parcoblatta wood roach, or a female or nymph of the Oriental cockroach. Parcoblatta are very fleet-footed. Blatta orientalis are relatively slow-moving, and adults are much larger than Parcoblatta.

size
a rough estimate would be about 15mm.
