Polyphemus arrival - Antheraea polyphemus -  Balaban garden, Skokie, Cook County, Illinois, USA May 29, 2006
She didn't open her wings but we read where she might not do that until after mating occurred and we also read that mating takes place at night. So we moved her out on the back deck to see if she would bring in a male. We stayed up until 11:00pm and took this image outside in the dark. We didn't see any males but she was gone in the morning.
