Is this a Shield-back Katydid species? If so, any species ID on it?

Yes, Looks Like An Adult Female Shieldback...
...and I suspect it's one of the eastern or Atlanticus genus species--there's a page of images of these here on bugguide you might want to look at. Also try looking through the Atlanticus species pages at the Singing Insects site--there are range maps provided to help you quickly weed out what's not likely in your area down to a short list of 'suspects'. Just from the colouring on the thorax of your subject, I'm wondering whether the protean shieldback (Atlanticus testaceus) mightn't be a match myself. Unfortunately, there's no photo of a female on that species page, but there are recordings of the male's songs...maybe they'll sound familiar...:)
