Pompilid and prey Johnson Co - Anoplius

Pompilid and prey Johnson Co - Anoplius
Hurricane Wilderness Area, Johnson County, Arkansas, USA
July 8, 2006
Size: 26mm
Lovely spider wasp with that orange and black pattern that is common among at least several Anoplius species. Dropped prey and came back to it. Hauling it backwards across a sandy wooded path.

That's a pretty big Anoplius!
There are few Anoplius that get that large so it is probably one of two species: Anoplius atrox or Anoplius bengtssoni. This is just a suggestion, though, I couldn't see anything to go on but size and the orange markings on the abdomen (although when I enlarged the image I thought I could see some erect hairs on the head). Some Arachnospila are orange-marked but I SERIOUSLY doubt it's in that genus. In any case it's a cool image. Do you have any idea what the spider might be? That can help in an ID, too.
