Red Cuckoo Bee? Coelioxys slossoni - Coelioxys slossoni

Red Cuckoo Bee? Coelioxys slossoni - Coelioxys slossoni
Long Key, Monroe County, Florida, USA
March 31, 2012
Size: 2cm
These tiny wild flowers were a magnet for all sorts of bees and wasps. Very excited to see this, as have never seen a Coelioxys sp in the UK. Wondered if it could be C. slossoni? Can anyone say if it is a male or female?

Thank you John. Can you let me know what to look out for with regards to ID'ing males/females. Hope to go back to this site and photograph again.
