Deer Fly - Chrysops abatus - female

Deer Fly - Chrysops abatus - Female
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
March 31, 2012
This dear little fly is a happy fly, as she has added a new species for BG.

corrected ID
A rather melanistic specimen (Chrsops spp.from the south often darker from those more northern).
The dark thorax, the small yellow middorsal triangle on tergite 3, and especially the apical dot and hyaline triangle in the wing make this abatus.

Neglected
This fly feels sad because it is not in the new taxon gallery.
