Damselfly - Argia moesta
Glen Echo Park, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
June 24, 2006
The Damselfly in this image and the tagged image were flying in very close proximity, and I believe they are male and female of the same species. Anyone know what kind they might be? Thanks.

Glen Echo Damsel
Ah, Glen Echo. I still hear the radio jingle: "The Coaster Dip is cool, but that Crystal Pool... Glen Echo Amusement Park."

Now on this damsel, is the color accurate in the photo, with the damsel a whitish color on the upper surface of its thorax? The only damsel I can think of with that coloration is Powdered Dancer.

Yours has a very striking shoulder stripe, while Powdered Dancer's is usually more non-descript.

By the way, I unlinked the two images because you should use the "Add image" button only to add another photo of the same individual. If you just want to refer to another posting, use the thumb tag:

thumb:62915

with the whole thing enclosed in square brackets and 62915 being the image number you want to refer to. (The image number is the last part of the URL when your image is up on the screen.)

The thumb tag is a cool feature that will add a clickable thumbnail to the text you are writing.

Thanks, Stephen. Yes, the co
