Maple Callus Borer - Synanthedon acerni - male

Maple Callus Borer - Synanthedon acerni - Male
Essex, Ontario, Canada
June 13, 2005
Size: About 15 mm
Another one I'm unable to id. On Goatsbeard (Tragopogon pratensis).

2554 -- Maple Callus Borer Moth -- Synanthedon acerni
... quite the darkest (freshest?) individual I have seen from the northern portion of its range (S. Canada to Gulf of Mexico)

Thank you!
I have other pictures, but they are so worn I missed the connection between them. Thanks again.

The flower in the image isn't Goatsbeard
How is the moth related to Goatsbeard? the caterpillar?

You are correct.
Sorry, this is dwarf goatsbeard, an exotic. Not related to the moth. It just happened to be on it (or perhaps nectaring).
