Found this in the garden, only got one shot of it. Is it a Crane Fly?

Ugh...
Yes. Ugly cuss. They don't bite, probably don't eat as adults....no, they don't eat mosquitoes....

 
They can eat, though.
You are probably right in asuming that many species do not eat but I have seen Tipula species and smaller Limoniidae searching for honeydew on leaves and really enjoying it as well.
